Having been a postman in Glasgow for more than 40 years, John Lister from Cumbernauld is no stranger to special deliveries.

But the day came recently for him to receive one - a card from the King to mark his 100th birthday.
Originally from Glasgow, John has lived in Cumbernauld Village since 1969. He was married to the late Margaret and has a daughter Ann and a son Derek.
He was a postman in Glasgow for 42 years and served for a short time in the sorting coach of the Glasgow to London mail train, but when he told people what he did, he often added that he wasn't working on the night of the great train robbery!

John is one of the few surviving World War Two veterans, having been conscripted at 18 and sent to France with the Highland Light Infantry. He served in France, Belgium and Holland before being posted to the Middle East with peace keeping forces.
His card from the King was delivered to him at his home in Cumbernauld, by Deputy Lieutenant, Anne Walker.
