The Coronation of His Majesty King Charles

The official portraits from the Coronation of Their Majesties The King and Queen have been released. They were taken by Hugo Burnand in the State Rooms at Buckingham Palace following the Coronation Service.

His Majesty is pictured in full regalia in the Throne Room at Buckingham Palace. His Majesty is wearing The Robe of Estate, The Imperial State Crown and is holding the Sovereign’s Orb and Sovereign’s Sceptre with Cross. His Majesty is seated on one of a pair of 1902 throne chairs that were made for the future King George V and Queen Mary for use at the Coronation of King Edward VII. These throne chairs were also used in the background of the 1937 Coronation of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth and by His Majesty The King Charles III and Queen Camilla at Westminster Hall to receive addresses from the Speakers of both Houses of Parliament last year.
Their Majesties are pictured in the Throne Room at Buckingham Palace.

Her Majesty is pictured in The Green Drawing Room. Her Majesty is wearing Queen Mary’s Crown and Robe of Estate.
Their Majesties are pictured with members of the Working Royal Family.

Her Royal Highness the Princess Royal visited The Seagull Trust charity in Kirkintilloch where she commissioned one of the barges and had a short boat ride. She later met members of the charity.

The event was attended by Dunbartonshire's Vice Lieutenant Linda Moffat and Deputy Lieutenant, Mark Billington DL.

The Lord-Lieutenant of Dunbartonshire, Mrs Jill Young MBE has congratulated Her Majesty The Queen on Her Platinum Jubilee. Mrs Young said, ‘On 6th February this year Her Majesty The Queen became the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum jubilee, marking 70 years service to the people of the United Kingdom, the Realms and the Commonwealth. This is a remarkable achievement and on behalf of the County  of Dunbartonshire I would like to pass on our very best wishes and heartfelt congratulations.’
To celebrate this unprecedented anniversary, events and initiatives will take place throughout the year, culminating in a four day UK bank holiday weekend from Thursday 2nd to Sunday 5th June. The four days of celebrations will include public events and community activities, as well as national moments of reflection on The Queen’s 70 years of service.
Included in the celebrations is the Platinum Jubilee Beacons: The United Kingdom’s long tradition of celebrating Royal Jubilees, Weddings and Coronations with the lighting of beacons will continue for the Platinum Jubilee. A beacon chain, once used as a tool for communication, has now become a symbol of unity across towns, borders, countries and continents and is often the central point of focus for any outdoor gathering or celebration. In 1897, beacons were lit to celebrate Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee. In 1977, 2002 and 2012, beacons commemorated the Silver, Golden and Diamond Jubilees of The Queen, and in 2016 Her Majesty’s 90th birthday.
A Principal Beacon will be lit on the 2nd June in a special ceremony at Buckingham Palace, following which over 1,500 beacons will be lit throughout the United Kingdom, Channel Islands, Isle of Man and UK Overseas Territories and it is planned that a Beacon will be lit at Dumbarton Castle as part of the celebration chain to commemorate this magnificent achievement.

Buckingham Palace has produced a new video for release to schools and community groups as part of Her Majesty's Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

The specially-made short film features events and visits down Queen Elizabeth's 70 year-long reign, including meetings with US President President Obama, South African President Nelson Mandela and Indhira Gandhi of India.

Her Majesty is also featured opening the British parliament, hosting the Prime Minister and meeting religious leaders.
