Dunkirk Operation remembered in Dumbarton

A special event was held in Dumbarton to mark the anniversary of Operation Dynamo, the evacuation of more than 300,000 allied troops from the Dunkirk beaches.

The vintage tea party was hosted by the Scottish Maritime Museum in Dumbarton and showcased the work of the Skylark trust, which is restoring the vessel - one of the little ships which took part in the 1940 operation.

Skylark sailed on Loch Lomond towards the end of her career and sank in the River Leven in 2010.

The event was attended by Deputy Lieutenant Dr Gill Aitkenhead MBE.

The event was also attended by the Provosts of both Argyll and Bute and West Dunbartonshire Councils, local MSP Jackie Baillie and other Councillors.
