Betty celebrates centenary

Friends, family and staff joined Betty Buchanan as she celebrated her 100th birthday at Hill View nursing home in Dalmuir.

In attendance was her only child, daughter Liz (standing behind her) grandson David and great grandson also David. Originally from the Bridgeton area of Glasgow she was sent to Clydebank to work in the Tullis Factory at the beginning of WW2. It was there she met her husband Jim. She served as a Wren in the navy during the war and was stationed at Rosneath. During her working life she worked in Beatties Biscuit Factory and in the canteen of Radio Clyde amongst other places. After she retired she enjoyed playing bowls.

The party was also joined by the Provost of West Dunbartonshire, Karen Conaghan and Deputy Lieutenant Tom Finnigan MBE, who read a congratulatory message from the King.
