Lord-Lieutenant gives award on visit to Sappers

The Lord-Lieutenant of Dunbartonshire, Mrs Jill Young MBE, has visited 124 Field Support Squadron Royal Engineers.

Mrs Young presented the Lord-Lieutenant’s Certificate of Meritorious Service to Acting Corporal Robert Toal, a reservist who works as a supervisor with North Lanarkshire Leisure at the Time Capsule in Coatbridge.

The visit, to the Army Reserve Centre in Cumbernauld, took place on Tuesday 31 May 2022.

Cpl Toal has served on operations in Afghanistan and South Sudan.

His commanding officer said, 'Cpl Toal has been an exceptionally willing volunteer soldier; selflessly volunteering for operational deployments and Regimental duties alike. I wholeheartedly recommend he be awarded the Lord Lieutenant’s Certificate of Meritorious Service.'
