Lieutenancy marks Platinum Jubilee with oak tree

Dunbartonshire's Deputy Lieutenant, Wing Commander George Campbell OBE OStJ DL, joined pupils at Vale of Leven Academy in Alexandria to commemorate Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee by planting an Oak tree.

The decision to plant an oak tree was based on research by Geography students into  trees which absorb the most carbon before deciding on an Oak tree sourced by The National Trust. The location of each tree planted will be recorded as part of  The Queen’s Green Canopy  initiative  as part of the Jubilee celebrations.

The tree was kindly donated by Nicola Aitken from  local business Gilmour and Aitken.

This tree is the latest to be planted in the Lieutenancy and the QGC map of all trees planted is closing soon.
