Deputy Lieutenant receives OBE from the King

Dunbartonshire Deputy Lieutenant, Major Mike Edwards, received his OBE from King Charles in an investiture at Windsor Castle on July 11th.

Mike was named in Her late Majesty the Queen's Platinum Jubilee Birthday Honours list last year for public and charitable service.

Mike is an author and charity trustee and was a newspaper, radio and TV journalist for 40 years. He is an officer in the Army Reserve and was mobilised for active service in Iraq and Afghanistan.

'His Majesty was very chatty and asked me about my military service, the charities it is my privilege to represent and my role as a DL,' said Mike.

'I firmly believe the OBE is as much recognition for these organisations as it is for me.'
