World War One Book Launch
Helensburgh War Memorial, Hermitage Park
13th November 2021

The Friends of Hermitage Park is a registered Charity dedicated to restore the much-loved town park. The Helensburgh War Memorial was at the top of their list and the restoration of the memorial was completed in time for Armistice Sunday, November 2017. It is the town’s testament to a generation that sacrificed their lives for their country.
The project team shown below have then worked tirelessly to research and produce a dedicated book which documents the lives of the 206 World War One casualties named on the memorial.

The book launch was attended by Lord-Lieutenant Jill Young, Vice Lord-Lieutenant Linda Moffat and Deputy Lieutenant Gill Aitkenhead.

A dedicated website – helensburghwarmemorial.co.uk – DVD and pamphlet guide to Hermitage Park in the First World War was also unveiled on Saturday 13th November 2021.
Fiona Baker, Chair of the Friends of Hermitage Park confirmed the book will be on display at the Hermitage Park Pavilion, Destination Helensburgh and also at Helensburgh Library.

Thanks go to the Friends of Hermitage Park for allowing the use of the Memorial Book information and link to the website.
