Lieutenancy Residents Honoured in New Year List

Six local people have been honoured in His Majesty the King's first New Year Honours List for services and achievements.

Elaine Boyd from Milngavie, director of audit quality and appointments with Audit Scotland has been awarded the OBE for public and charitable Services.

Lynn Cleal from Cove, chair of the St John Scotland Public Access Defibrillator Scheme, has been awarded the OBE for voluntary service to the community in Scotland.

And Mrs Remzije Sherifi from Bearsden has been awarded the OBE for services to refugee integration in
Glasgow.

Tom Finnegan, a Justice of the Peace and a Dunbartonshire Lieutenancy Deputy Lieutenant, has been awarded the MBE for services to the administration of justice and to the community in Dunbartonshire.

Peter Dempster from Clydebank has been awarded the British Empire Medal for services to swimming and the community.

And Joyce Murray, a school crossing patrol attendant from Bishopbriggs has been awarded the British Empire Medal for
service to the Boys' Brigade and to the community in Glasgow.
