Dumbarton hosts Civil Service bowls tournament

Participants from all over the country have taken part in the annual Civil Service Bowls Association tournament at Dumbarton Bowling Club.

Deputy Lieutenant, Professor Elaine Boyd OBE, opened the green and met the players before the competition started.

Also in attendance was West Dunbartonshire Provost, Karen Murray Conaghan, who threw the jack to start play.

The Provost and Professor Boyd and their husbands attended the Association's annual dinner at the Abbotsford hotel in the town as guests of Richard Hissey from Wales, the chair of the CSBA.

After the meal the Provost and Professor Boyd were thanked for their attendance by Mr Hissey and presented with bouquets of flowers.

Professor Boyd also got the opportunity to chat to John and Liz McCafferty who she met in January to congratulate them on their Diamond wedding anniversary and read their card from His Majesty the King.

Scotland were the tournament winners. The event will be held in the Welsh town of Tenby next year.
