Three new Deputy Lieutenants

Three new Deputy Lieutenants have been appointed by Dunbartonshire’s Lord-Lieutenant, Mrs Jill Young MBE. The trio bring a wide ranging and varied depth of experience to their new roles, which begin immediately.

Elaine Ferguson DL (Cardross) served as a police officer for 30 years and carried out a number of roles. Latterly she was commander of specialist services for Scotland which included armed policing, the dog unit and air support and was qualified as a strategic commander for firearms and public order operations. Upon retirement from Police Scotland, she was the Deputy Chief Executive of the Lowland Reserve Forces and Cadets Association and after leaving that role joined their board. Elaine is also Honorary Colonel for the West Lowland Army Cadet Battalion.

Liz Connolly (Jordanhill) is the recently retired Principal and Chief Executive of West College Scotland, one of the largest regional colleges in Scotland. Liz has a lifetime career in public service and is an experienced corporate executive and non-executive leader across a wide range of business, education and economic development.

Joe Stanfield MBE(Kilsyth) is Wing Executive Officer for the West Scotland Wing of the RAF Cadets. With over 20 years in HR, project management, financial management and team leadership in the RAF, he manages a large team of volunteers and cadets providing safeguarding, discipline, governance and compliance advice and guidance.

Mrs Young said, ‘I’d like to extend a warm welcome to Elaine, Liz and Joe and look forward to working with them across a number of projects within the Lieutenancy in the coming years.’
