Lord-Lieutenant marks arts anniversary

Dunbartonshire's Lord-Lieutenant, Mrs Jill Young MBE, attended the Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts 130^th anniversary celebrations of its ‘Royal’ status at an event in Milngavie.

The RGI, Scotland’s second oldest arts society, celebrated the event through its friends at East Dunbartonshire Leisure and Culture’s Lillie Art Gallery on Station Road in Milngavie.

The gallery hosted an exhibition of art by the RGI’s members, showing alongside historically connected artwork from the East Dunbartonshire Permanent Collection, which opened 17^thJanuary.

Mrs Young said, 'it was a fantastic opportunity to share in the celebration of such an auspicious anniversary for one of Scotland's most venerable arts organisations.'
