Clydebank blitz remembered

The 83rd anniversary of the Clydebank blitz, in which more than 1000 people were killed, has been marked at a series of events in the town.

Hundreds turned out in the spring sunshine to remember those lost in the devastation caused by Luftwaffe bombing raids in March 1941.

A wreath-laying ceremony, led by local dignitaries and politicians, took place at Old Dalnottar cemetery.

Members of the Polish community were also in attendance.

Another ceremony took place at the Solidarity Plaza in Clydebank, where Jim Rogers laid a second wreath, this time in memory of Polish sailors who defended the town.

More than 1,200 Clydebank residents were killed in the raids and 1,000 were seriously injured.

Of the 4,000 homes in the town, only a handful were undamaged.
