Dunbartonshire DL attends Trooping of the Colour

One of Dunbartonshire's Deputy Lieutenants, Mrs Elaine Boyd OBE, attended the Trooping of the Colour in London.

The event marks the official birthday of His Majesty King Charles.

It takes place every June at Horseguards in central London.

Elaine, a director with Audit Scotland, said: 'The horse formations were breathtaking. I have ridden with Riding for the disabled for nearly 49 years. It was incredible to see Princess Anne the patron on horseback so close to where we were sitting.

'We expected the red arrows display to be cancelled as there was thunder and lightning. There was a small break in the weather and they were able to perform their display. It was spectacular as always and as a student pilot they never fail to amaze me.

'It was wonderful to see the King and Princess of Wales make an appearance given their ongoing cancer treatment. It definitely lifted everyone’s spirits!

My husband Tom and I are heading to the Royal International Air Tattoo at RAF Fairford in a couple of weeks and are looking forward to seeing the Red Arrows again.

It was very wet in London that day but we were so delighted to be there for the celebration and keeping up the tradition.

I felt totally spoiled, a riding and flying display at a single event!'
