Dunbartonshire heroes awarded New Year honours

Five people in the Dunbartonshire Lieutenancy area have been recognised in the New Year’s Honours List.

The Director of the Confederation of British Industry for Scotland, Michelle Ferguson from Bearsden, is awarded the OBE for services to the economy.

Also receiving an OBE are Kathleen Murray from Helensburgh, for services to children’s hearings in Scotland.

Kathryn Bennet from Helensburgh, chair of Gareloch Riding for the Disabled Association, has been awarded the MBE for services to the disabled community in west and central Scotland.

Paul McNeill from Bishopbriggs, an ambassador for Dyslexia Scotland, is awarded the MBE for services to young people with dyslexia.

And Lawrence McGarry from Glasgow, a volunteer with the Legion of Mary Wayside Club, has been awarded an MBE for services to the community in Glasgow.
