West Scotland Wing Marks 85 Years of the Air Training Corps

Air cadets of the West Scotland Wing proudly celebrated the 85th anniversary of the Air Training Corps at this year’s ATC Sunday Parade, held at Kilbowie Parish Church in Clydebank on Sunday 8^th of February. The event brought together more than 50 air cadets and adult volunteers from across the Wing, honouring the organisation’s long-standing commitment to youth development, service, and aviation.

The parade was attended by distinguished guests including Deputy Lord Lieutenant Mr Joseph Stanfield MBE and the Provost of West Dunbartonshire, Councillor Karen Conaghan, who joined cadets, staff, families, congregation and supporters in marking this significant milestone.

During the service, reflections were shared on the Corps’s 85-year legacy of inspiring young people through adventure, leadership, and community service. Cadets took part in readings, standard bearing, demonstrating the confidence, discipline, and teamwork that the ATC continues to instil.

Wing Commander West Scotland Wing Ed Crawley and expressed his gratitude to the volunteers whose dedication ensures the continued success of the organisation, and to the local communities for their ongoing support.

Councillor Conaghan and Mr Stanfield both commended the cadets for their professionalism and enthusiasm, highlighting the positive impact the Air Training Corps has across West Dunbartonshire and the wider West Scotland Wing.

The event concluded with a march past outside the church, where the reviewing party took the salute, marking a proud moment for all involved.
