New Deputy Lieutenants appointed

The Dunbartonshire Lieutenancy has appointed two new recruits to the team.

Well known Glasgow businessman Satnam Singh, better known as Satty, has enjoyed a lifetime career in the Hospitality industry.

He owns and runs the family Restaurant, Mr Singh's in the Charing Cross area of Glasgow.

A committed community champion he has made a lasting impact mentoring students, partnering colleges, charities and supporting local Gurdwaras, Sikh places of worship.

In 2018 Satty’s restaurant joined the Armed Forces Covenant and was the first in the UK to receive The Employers Gold Award for supporting the armed forces.

Andrew Cowan is an experienced legal professional with more than four decades of service in law, military and public service.

He has a proven record of leadership in legal practice, tribunal chairmanship, and charity governance.

He is a retired Royal Navy Reserve officer with a strong commitment to community, justice, and public welfare and is due to become the chair of the Erskine veterans' charity in summer 2026.

The Lord-Lieutenant, Mrs Jill Young MBE, said, 'I am very pleased to welcome two incredibly experienced people to the team. Both Satty and Andrew are well known and highly respected in the community and bring a wealth of experience to a busy Lieutenancy. I look forward to working with them.'
