Dumbarton Air Cadets land prestigious trophy

Air cadets from the 1777 (Dumbarton) Squadron have scooped the prestigious Morris Trophy for 2026.

The award comes for being runners-up in the competition to be the best ATC squadron in the United Kingdom.

Following rigorous inspections and submissions from across the UK, Commandant RAF Air Cadets, Air Commodore Al Lewis, and senior volunteer, Group Captain Ben Wakefield, selected 1777 Squadron for their cadet-led training, community impact and innovative work in STEM, Cyber, and Sustainability.

Congratulating the squadron, Lord-Lieutenant, Mrs Jill Young MBE, said: 'This is excellent news and so vey well deserved. I was delighted to hear about the assessment process when I visited and had no doubts that the Squadron would come out tops. Congratulations to all concerned.'
